<![CDATA[Shaping the land]]> http://www.transmallorcarun.com/en/default/actualidad/noticia/text/shaping-the-land/lang/en Shaping the land

We started from the wide promenade that runs along the Playa de Palma, 3 miles from a paved floor completely flat up to the Club Nautico del Arenal where we left up by about 60 meters of stairs that led us down the street Fra. Juniper Serra, just over a kilometer of asphalt to delve as quickly as we could along the paths that line the coast and parallel and very close to Passeig pavement (promenade) of Bahia and to start to enjoy what will be the terrain of the stage.

Without losing the path of hard packed sand alternating with rock that borders the coast and a few meters from the rough asphalt of the streets in the area of ??Son Veri Nou Cala Blava Groc until the Caló de ses points, where the impossibility of continuing the coastline due to the construction of villas by the sea up to us to explore the development of Bellavista in its streets.

After less than a mile of asphalt on the streets of Bellavista start with the majestic cliffs of Cap Rocat and military strength, military fortress built during the Civil War and now converted into a 5 star hotel located in an area (ISNA). We have been forced to share the trenches of the fortress and its hotel to continue along the coast.

Leaving our magnificent cliffs feet that walk the trails, paths and low vegetation and rocks hard rock punish our joints continue along the coast trying not to step on the many turtles that abound in this designated Area of ??Special Interest (ISNA ) being its special wildlife protection.

After little more than 8 km we get into some underground tunnels that lead us to the old nests of cannons and machine guns located approximately half of the walls of the cliffs and from where we can go down to sea level.

We walked about 5 miles along its paths of sandstone features of this area leaving on our right and very close to the sea to our left, the facade of cliffs of more than 20 meters ahead. These trails are old roads of debris made of sandstone blocks that were used to construct ancient Majorcan houses, and that workers were engaged in tracing the paths of extraction along the coast.

We arrived at the foot of the Cala Moreria, we made a dizzying climb up the cliff face due to the impossibility of continuing in their skirts, not being very technical but the climb becomes powerful because of its high degree of unevenness.

Crossing the streets of contiguous developments Moreira, Sa Torre, Badia Gran Dorado and the we have been forced to leave by a gate of a bungalow resort area in order to advance along the coast.

From here, at km 16 approx. from start to finish in the Faro de Cap Blanc km 25 the route of the first part of the opening stage of the TransMallorcaRun, the course is practically flat trails mostly rock, low vegetation and sparse pine forest that runs along the coast to edge of the cliffs and can become dangerous if we go mesmerized by the majesty of the cliffs.

<![CDATA[A fet no podium]]> http://www.transmallorcarun.com/en/default/actualidad/noticia/text/a-fet-no-podium/lang/en A fet no podium

Tòfol Castañer and Miquel Capo achieved their particular quest. The two Mallorcan, who formed the team Transmallorca Run, got fourth place finish in the 2011 edition of the Gore-Tex Transalpine Run, ultradistance mountain race that has taken place for eight days in the Alps and in which athletes have had to travel a total distance of 275 kilometers per landscapes of Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Switzerland and Italy.

The fourth position has been a success for Mallorca, as the physical condition of Miquel Capo was not good. In this competition to be played in pairs and in which both runners must run together and while crossing the finish line, Castañer had the handicap of seeing his partner ran a bout of flu this week. Hood ran every day with a headache, upset stomach and high fever. Even so, the hood pulled proud people and forced the machine to accompany each day to Solleric line.

From the first day the Run Transmallorca was among the candidates to win. A third position which allowed them to stay in the following days at the top of the classification and that, despite the physical problems of Capo, prevented them from leaving in this trial which enrolled 640 athletes.

The final winners were the locals David Lopez and Miguel Caballero (Gore-Tex Trangoworld Spain), employing a total of 26 hours, 37 minutes and 51 seconds to complete the 275 kilometers which is divided into eight stages (one per day).

Less than two hours of the winners finished Castañer and Hood, who always remained in the top four overall and a stage that never finished below fifth place, repeating up to three days the third. Quite a feat achieved by the Mallorcan, but not final podium.

<![CDATA[TransMallorcaRun in Transalpinerun]]> http://www.transmallorcarun.com/en/default/actualidad/noticia/text/transmallorcarun-in-transalpinerun/lang/en TransMallorcaRun in Transalpinerun

In the initial phase consisting of 27.2 km between the towns of Oberstdorf (Germany), Hirschegg (Austria), reaching a maximum altitude of 2061 m, making a total of 1806 positive slope m and a negative gap of 1496.

The stage was beginning at 11:00 am. and our team spent time TRANSMALLORCARUN 2h: 53 'to travel that distance, thus achieving the third fastest time and achieved the first podium in the very first stage.

In the second stage, 53.2 km runners should go with a positive slope and a vertical drop 2481 hm 2913 hm negative, between the peaks of the Alps Austrians located between the towns of Hirschegg (Austria) and Schruns (Austria). For the hardness of the stage, a constant up and down with stretches where in just 3 km should move from an altitude of 800 to 1478 hm hm, a real wild ... turned the second stage in the "Queen Stage" the Transalpine-Run.

The stage was very early start, 7:00 am, our team spent time TransMallorcaRun 5h: 44 'in route arriving in 5 th position. Another excellent result since decided to take it more smoothly because of the hardness of the stage thinking about the days ahead.

The third stage came characterized by adverse weather presaged a change in the route.

Initially delayed the start of the stage of 7:00 am to 9:00 am favoring racuperación time of the corridors, watching the weather forecasts that presaged great change, the organization decided to make changes to the route of the stage, to safeguard the most of the runners.

While respecting the initial 42.2 km distance between Schruns (Austria) and Galtür (Austria) was chosen to avoid the summit on the highest peaks charted an alternative path has a lower altitude because of hurricane-force winds and rain and low temperatures. Even with these modifications, the stage became an ordeal for runners where the constant rain, wind and cold throughout the journey unbearable led many to abandon the race, until even the best Spanish climber, Edurne passed.

Our team Mallorcan TransMAllorcaRun fully recovered from the two stages left eager to remain competitive at the top of the ranking. Invested a time of 4h: 09 ', coming in 3rd place at the finish line, thus the second podium after having played only 3 stages. A great result that the team wanted to dedicate it to a personal friend of Miquel, Magdalena Reynes which is struggling to emerge from a coma and wishing you a speedy recovery.

Quarta stage, we could define it as the most technical of the disputed so far. The 39'92 km between the villages of Galtür (Austria) and Scuol (Switzerland) 2339 come characterized by positive height difference hm hm 2734 negative, and especially for his two big climbs.

Our team TransMallorcaRun invested a time of 4h: 35 ': 42 ", reaching the finish in a more than creditable 4th place, and Miquel, was dragged from the first day of competition a lot of headaches and stomach which prevented him from just relax at night thus affecting their performance, but Miguel is a born fighter, do not give up easily, as he says "there is no greater honor than to die in the battlefield" and that Miquel's not like the others ...

The fifth stage, called the vertical kilometer, is that it only comprises 6.9 km climb to 2130 hm Motta Naluns to climb a vertical drop of 936m ... an ideal stage for specialists in mountain races.

The stage consisted in a time trial in which teams would come in 20 "to rank order starting from the bottom team to the first. The stage had a few quirks, the first is not necessarily the same team members should reach the same time to the finish line, and the other is that there were three types of classifications, an individual time step, the second stage equipment consisting of the sum of the two times of the two correrdores, and for overall third which would have the worst time of the two runners.

As each stage, the team came out eager TransMallorcaRun, the team decides that Tòfol must fight for the individual classification of the stage as it is in great form as demonstrated by the end of each stage in the coming cool as usual, instead suffering the insufferable Miquel for the team to remain at the top of the general even finish the stages with high fever, severe abdominal pain and bowel that cause dehydration persist overnight, yet Miguel is planted every day in the starting line to give everything for the team once again an example of strength and sacrifice for others ... that have always characterized examples of this, our great champion, Miquel Capo.

Tòfol to the clock in 39'41 ", second best time in the individual classification of the stage, behind the other two Spanish Miguel Caballero beating the record of the stage. Miquel nevertheless 45'57" sixth tenth fastest time.

In this fifth stage once again the team gets on the podium of the Transalpine-Run, but this time twice, Tòfol as second fastest time of the individual classification of the stage and TransMAllorcaRun team with a time of 1h: 25 ': 38 "taking second place in the team classification of the stage.

Stage 6 of 37.02 km in the towns of Scoul (Switzerland) and Mals (Italy) and with a slope + 1332 and -1474 of negative slope. You begin to notice that we are in Italy with more public in the streets cheering and encouraging the runners, are made a little Mediterranean character needed that encourage the runners in their wake ... ..

The day was very favorable climatically speaking for runners because, little rain and temperatures have not risen too much.

Our team rose TransMallorcaRun short period after the previous day, but intense, a little recovered, especially Miquel seems that every day is conquered by the viral process is going on. Anyway, the accumulation of miles and days of hard work is starting to show in all the corridors in general, increasing day by day the teams must leave by muscle problems or lack of capacity for accumulation of physical fatigue.

Miquel Tofol and have left very convinced to fight for a podium again at this stage, particularly because as we said Miquel Capo recovered seemed a bit more lively, and has been, have been at the top since the beginning reaching 37.02 Km goal after third, trans Trangoworld and Salomon team.

This stage today puts us closer to third place overall, although I have to tell you this evening to fall Miquel has become a bit and just after the daily pasta party once we retired to the hotel to try to rest the most and see how tomorrow we face a new stage.

As Tofol Castanyer have to keep saying that even though starting to show in his lower back is getting the miles accumulated after each step with energy and vitality, but always aware that he and Miguel are a team and therefore should be held together united and giving constant support.

Stage 7, of 36.9 km between the towns of Mals (Italy) and Schlanders (Italy), with a cumulative gap -2334 +2063 hm hm and the negative. This stage, called "the roof of the western route as the trailrunners have overcome nothing more and nothing less to the top of Rappenscharte (3012 m) in the Southern Alps Ötztal.

Tòfol tells us that the miles accumulated are only present on the legs of all the runners, the physical and mental health is important and have to overcome peaks over 3000m at this stage of ramps grueling race, becoming the seventh cause the hardest stage of the Transalpine-Run.

But our team as always, willing to give everything, to be competitive until the end, not to surrender, not to leave despite everything, thus a 5th posicición with a time of (4h: 09 ': 51 "). It should be noted that in this seventh stage for the first time in which we, the team leader, along with Spanish, Trangoworld Team Spain II Gore-Tex has not gained the victory, something to note as were hitherto intractable is that as we said, fatigue is evident in all.

The current world champion mountain races and the runner-up Desert Isostar Marathon, was second because she let first goal, after waiting more than twenty minutes, Portuguese Coimbra Telmo are fighting since last Saturday's prestigious Gore-Tex Transalpine Run.

Miquel Capo Tòfol Castañer and defend the flag Majorcan Transmallorca Run team and have set a target to fight for the podium at mountain ordeal in which every day became champion of stage and defines their general classification winner end.

There have been 640 athletes who have signed up to participate in this competition in which the speed to complete the course combined with mental strength and endurance athletes about a week facing hard 'circuits' by mountain scenery.

In this year, the length of each stage will range between 53 miles of the longest and 27, with more than 15,000 feet of altitude variation on a test that reaches 2,000 meters. The competition is divided into three categories, mixed couples, male and female.

Born in the town of Soller, Mallorca won the runner-up last season's World of specialty, and a few weeks ago, has just been "a prophet in his own land" by proclaiming the winner of the Cursa de Muntanya Vall de Soller, first of the evidence in the Solomon Buff Grand Prix (Spain Cup Race by Mountain).

Tòfol is a very versatile runner able to combine perfectly, road races (half marathon, marathon asphalt), with the toughest mountain races. Know a little more to this magnificent corridor and noble person:

How many years have you been running, at what age you start to run?

The truth is that years ago, I started over 16 years, with athletics as a preamble to a hypothetical career as a cyclist, but I do not go to the two wheels and I'm still here

Why Tòfol Castanyer mountain runs, which gives the sport?

The mountain was running for long after, I was pretty typical time doing what athletes: track, cross, half-marathon, marathon ... but still doing this, I had always attracted the mountain, climbing or caving .. . one day I learned that in certain parts of the peninsula into fashion began racing mountain and there was the perfect combination of sport I loved most in the medium that most attracted me: perfect.

Some physiological parameters yours:

All very normal

-Height: 163cm

-Weight in shape and out of shape: between 53-55

-Maximum oxygen consumption: the last time I checked I think it was 73

Do you do stress testing? Do you carry medical supervision?

Normally a year, medical supervision is basically to follow up with based on analytical

Do you care your diet? Tell us for example, what you eat and what you drink, the 2 on days preceding a major race.

I do not look much the theme of food across the board, as I want and I do not "forbid" anything. Perhaps the rise of hydrates in a marathon, all I'm trying to accomplish.

How Tòfol training to get ready for the season in the Alps? How quality to quantity or value and then starts tuning go with quality?

We tried to make a good base physical level with the maximum possible amount of miles and then we refined with other quality training.

Do you coach?

Yes, always the same all these years, but a great friend coach Felix Moreno

Mencionanos your favorite brands:

10km track and route: 30 '50''and 31'30''

Half Marathon route: 1h 07 '58''

(Last April 11, 2010, took third place in the Championship of Spain of Half Marathon (over 35 years) with a record of 1h08'37, and leaving the victor to 9'').

Marathon route: 2h 25 '(13 th in Seville Marathon in 2009)

Rate of 0 (minimum pain) -10 (maximum distress)

from: Half Marathon race route in 1h 08 '(3 rd category of Spain over 35 years) and when you won the Puyada Oturia (year 2009)

Running Half Marathon Route (2010) in 1h 08 'I had a 6.

Oturia Puyada to win (in 2009) suffered an 8.

What protocol is Tòfol Castanyer supplies in their training and racing?

I would say that in the long workouts or competitions of more than 2 hours, usually take some kind of gel per hour

At the economic level, what changes SSOT be in the team this year, compared to last year? What level of sport?

I think the economic level does not change anything, the economic aid are the same, namely to cover travel and subsistence expenses. Even if it be in the Salomon Santiveri I mean more sports equipment aids and supplements.

On a sporting level, the only difference perhaps is trying to help SSOT get the world title level teams. The other objectives are more or less the same every year: World Cup, something Cup Championship in Spain Spain or FEDMA and if I can combine it with the Championship of Spain RFEA mountain.

Can you live to run up the mountain? How do you see the professionalization of this discipline in the medium term?

In my case categorically no, I know cases of people that if they can do, but I think they are exceptions. Be professional in this discipline for now I think only exclusive "megacraks" as Kilian, in the future we'll see. I continue with my daily goal, try to find work and family, the time needed to train.

What would you choose?, Being the champion of Spain FEDME 2010 (in Puyada Oturia), or again runner-up of the ISF World Cup.

I think I prefer the second option, just because it is more difficult to be consistent throughout the season to be either in a single test ... but it is also true that there are many other competitions during the year can be just of attractive and interesting than these two.

Who do you fear most as a runner nationally, Raul Garcia, your partner Agustí Roc, Kilian Jornet, someone else has left me ..?

All you mention are great rival brokers may also include Jesse Hernandez ... but do not fear any of them, I have great respect them but the grace of mountain races is that given the variety and types of tests can perform very differently a runner on a short test and the same technique on a test runner longer and less complicated.

Do you think it would be whippable Kilian Jornet in a race like Oturia?

Kilian is a phenomenon I believe that unique and incomparable. Maybe it's an athlete who performs better the longer and more technical is the test is a test ... Oturia i pretty fast little technical, there is whippable that much difference, I think it depends on the fitness of Kilian in late May.

Upcoming events in May and June to Tòfol, and the 2010 target.

For now:

Zegama World Cup (May 16, 2010)

Championship of Spain FEDME Puyada Oturia (May 30, 2010)

Skyrunner ® World Series' Trials, Portugal (June 13)

Portugal, at best, and I say this because maybe do something else, depend greatly on the time available to train basically. It marked only goal of the year I see some "attractive", I prefer to assess a global season in terms of results, perhaps that's why I probably attracts more world cup.

Do you see the medium to long term career debut Ultras?

I think if, in fact I have tried something in Mallorca, but I never made race a few times the "Travessa" of the Serra de Tramuntana: about 98km I did in 12h0 'and really enjoyed it.

Tòfol Castanyer, one of the corridors of the world in the form of time, which no doubt will be talking about this season ..
